Log 31 Jan 2010

Ten individuals turned up at Milngavie car park at 7:00 am.   Donald, Billy, Andy, Allan, Kevin, Koon, Laurence, Dave K, David Jamieson and David O'Donnell (two prospective new members).
On arriving at Victoria Bridge car park the party split into three groups; Koon, Laurence & Dave K going for Stob Ghabhar via the upper couloir; Donald opting to do his own thing as usual and the others going for the STOB A' CHOIRE ODHAIR and STOB GABHAR round.

All parties left the car park at approx 9:00 am and proceeded up the path by the Allt Toaig burn.
After about 1.5 km Donald persuaded all the party (except Koon, Laurence & Dave K) to follow him up BEINN TOAIG before proceeding onto Stob a' Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar.
This party completed all of the round except for Andy & Allan who returned to the car park at about 4:00 pm after completing two tops.

The remaining party returned to the car park at approx 5:00 pm after completing the full round of Beinn Toaig, Stob a Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar.

Koon, Laurence and Dave K proceeded on the Aonach Eagach where Laurence opted out of the Upper Couloir and carried on to top of Stob Ghabhar.
Koon & Dave K descended off the end of Aonach Eagach ridge and traversed across NE face of Stob Ghabhar to the bottom of the upper couloir.
Here they were delayed as other two parties were already climbing the ice pitch showering them with chunks of ice.
Eventually Koon got her chance to lead the ice pitch grade 11 /111 which she managed with ease, putting in two ice screws on the way.
DK followed and both reached top at 4:00 pm returning to car park at 6:00 pm in the dark.

All parties eventually meeting up in the lounge (bar closed for renovation) at Bridge of Orchy Hotel.  Excellent day had by all.   Weather good all day, good visibility with occasional cold wind.   Snow condition excellent and ideal for snow and ice climbing.
