As Billy couldn't come Andy coordinated. The conditions didn't seem good for a snow climb and Fraser wanted an early day after the exertions of singing the day before.

The five that showed up (Andy, Fraser, Kevin Laurence and Noelle, no Daves this week!) decided to start from Glen Lochy where we found a newish car park and path to an easily fordable place in the river (quite low for the time of year). Then we headed up through the woods towards the eastern flanks of Beinn a' Chleibh.
But the recent tree-cutting obliterated our path and we ended up circling back to the main path to the bealach towards Ben Lui.
Eventually we reached the lowest snow fields and had an enjoyable route on good snow to the ridge, then up to the summit of BEINN A'CHLEIBH.
Although there was no rain/snow it was cold and after lunch the whole party was happy to descend without going on to Ben Lui. Reaching the bottom of the snow most of the party indulged in ice climbing and hanging off improbably steep slopes (with photos to prove it).
This was followed by a crampon-clad descent along the frozen river. A pleasant walk through the woods took us back to the car park, giving instructions to some novice campers along  the way.   The promised rain started just as we drove off.

Total walking time was 6 hours, but almost one hour of this was near the start, dealing with the confused terrain where felling operations were still under way.

Following Noelle's recommendation we went to the Crianlarich Hotel (now liberated from the hoards of coach parties) with the promise of excellent beer - sadly that didn't materialise as it wasn't summertime.

We got back to Milngavie well before 6pm.
