Log 5 May 2012

Jim, Shirley, Shaun and Ian left Milngavie at 06:00, an early start due to the anticipated long day, heading for Glendessarry with the intention of climbing the three Munros SGURR NAN COIREACHAN, GARBH CHIOCH MHOR and SGURR NA CICHE.
We arrived in Glendessarry to a busy parking area after encountering a charity cycle on a single track road and the arduous drive up past Loch Arkaig and started the walk at 09:40.

The weather was fantastic with a cool breeze and after just over one hour we started ascent of the south face of Sgurr nan Coireachan. The top was reached at 12:45 and we were treated to tremendous views in all directions with the westward views out to the islands particularly impressive. After a 15 minute break we headed off to the second Munro of the day Garbh Chioch Mhor. The Munro book time was one hour for this leg of the walk Aye right!

We reached the top at 14:30 after moving at a good pace.
Temperatures were dropping now due to the northerly wind but visibility was still good. We moved on quickly from here and headed for Sgurr na Ciche reaching the final summit at 15:20.
After leaving the summit we stopped at the head of Feadan na Ciche for the final food stop before leaving at 16:00 for the attempt on the narrow gulley and the 8 mile walk back to the cars.

We reached the car at 19:10 and headed back to Milngavie stopping for a drink at the Onich Hotel and arrived back in Milngavie at 23:00 hrs.
