Log 29 Jan 2012

Four intrepid souls headed north to the wilds of Pitlochry.  Derek H and Allan enjoyed a walk in the area above the Moulin, whilst Alex and Billy headed up to the summit of BEN VRACKIE.
Visibility was good on the lower slopes, but above 2000 ft it was misty.  The day was dry but cold.   On our ascent, Alex and I were warned by people coming back down to expect icy conditions underfoot – we weren’t disappointed.  On arriving at the trig point we were greeted by a ‘nippy’ wind so made a hasty retreat to the Lochan where we met up with Allan and made our way down together.   There were excellent views to savour along with a well earned lunch.
We had departed from the Moulin car park at 09:15 and returned at 12:45
The Moulin beckoned complete with log fires and suitable refreshments.   A little detour was taken to find the Edradour Distillery which was closed on Sundays!
A short but enjoyable day.
