Log 19 Aug 2012

Twelve people met up at 07:00 to join our Australian based former member and ex President, Mervyn on his brief visit to Milngavie.
Stuart, Jimmy (our new Life Member) and Mervyn;  Ron, Allan, Sue and Fraser; Jim and Shirley, Derek McGaw and Donald then reconvened at the car park beside Loch Sloy Power Station.
The route was just the well trodden if rather damp normal path to the summit and return by the same route.   The pace was leisurely, as many past adventures and times of laughter were recalled.   An extended break was taken on the summit for a snack and the passing of various hip flasks, with further reminiscences.   The upward route and the time on the summit were masked in cloud, but there was no rain, and as we descended the summits cleared and the views opened up.
Time taken on the hill was about 5 hours 30 minutes.
The party broke the journey home with a stop at Inverbeg for the outdoor enjoyment of drinks during which Mervyn bestowed small gifts from Australia to one and all.   We wish him and Sheelagh all the best for the rest of their break in the UK and Ireland and a safe journey home.
