CAIRNSMORE OF CARSPHAIRN 16 DECEMBER 2012

Alex, Fraser, Malcolm and Jeremy set off at 07:05 and immediately stopped as Alex had run over Fraser's foot. Fortunately there were no permanent after effects. Cairnsmore of Carsphairn was misty, a bit wet and cold on top.    Ascended following the landrover track and drystone dyke by Polsue Burn to summit.   Came back over Black Shoulder, Dunool and Willeanna towards Benloch Burn, using a combination of compass readings, fences, dykes and tracks.  7 miles and 4 hours in all.

The pub in Carsphairn was shut so we had a pint in the Dalmellington Inn before all being home by 16:00.
Report by Alex Maclennan

Donald went in his own car and parted from us just north of Carsphairn, agreeing that two hills in forest near New Galloway would take him about the same time as the others, and that all would meet in the pub in Carsphairn (see above). Successful ascents were made of CRAIGNELL and  FELL OF FLEET on either side of the A712 near Clatteringshaws Loch. His route was very boggy, and another false step for the day immersed him and his mobile phone, causing him to lose contact until he was safely back in Glasgow.
